Summary
Different from the previous One Piece games, Pirates Carnival is a party game featuring over forty mini games. The mini games feature simple controls and promise to recreate well-known scenes from the original One Piece body of work. The game features support for four players, with some games featuring split screen play and others placing all four players in the same area.

If you need a break from "Mario Party," this is a good place to start.

Kids probably won't mind much, and they're definitely the target audience here. Pirates' Carnival isn't spectacular in any one sense, but the solid mini-games and well-used license are enough to put it near the top of the distinctly uncompetitive party game genre.

If you and your friends are fans of the series, as popular as it is, Pirates Carnival would be a great way to kick back and have a friendly competition with each other. Pirates’ Carnival isn’t the buried treasure party-gamers have been looking for. It’s more like the fool’s gold of party games.

The gameplay is absolutely textbook in its design, and while a few of the games can be pretty entertaining, the sheer amount of variety is far too small.

I want to preface my statements that way, so that when I tell you how awful Pirate's Carnival is , maybe, just maybe, you'll believe me. [Sept. 2006, p.92]

If only the mini-games that you have to constantly play were more alluring.

Feels like another “phone-it-in" anime game. The mini-games are boring, the Captain events feel tired and generic, and there’s no replay value to be found.
