This game combines soccer and brain training in a very pleasant way. The only critic, I have to mention is that the Austrian soccer league is not included in the game!

It's just hugely satisfying to win a match. I found myself geeing on my strikers whenever they took a shot. I found myself cheering out loud after a last-minute Bobby Zamora winner broke Hull hearts. This, fused with the "collect-em-all" nature of virtual sticker collecting, makes Football Academy almost impossible to put down.

Level7.nu

An odd combination of soccer quizzes, management strategies and rock-paper-scissor gameplay - Football Academy must be as hard to promote as it is to describe. The quizzes are somewhat uneven and the strategies could do with a bit more depth. Nevertheless, this is a unique and fun title that soccer fans at least should take a closer look at. Kudos to EA for giving such a unique concept the green light.

Low on thrills but good for your football brain skills, with a curious blend of gameplay styles that just about works. [May 2009, p.64]

A decent effort that deserves some attention from football loving DS owners.

Hardcore soccer fans should give it a try, but everyone else should stay away from it.

SpazioGames

Football Academy is half managerial, half party game. The idea is sound, but the result could disappoint fans of both the genres. Could be a wise choice for managerial newbies, but everyone else should try before buying.

Multiplayer.it

Albeit quirky, Football Academy’s concept is an interesting and intriguing one; as it is, football fans will probably love this strange rendition of the sport, but a good idea deserves much more polish and production values.

Games Master UK

A great idea nonetheless, despite its flaws. [June 2009, p.78]

AceGamez

Football Academy is undoubtedly an addictive game but it requires several more training sessions before it can be considered world class.

Random questions are actually some of the highlights of the game. That says it all. [May 2009, p.89]

This really is a game purely for footie mad kids in the playground, and certainly not the typical hardcore footie fanatic that you'd expect to find sitting in the Kop.

Henry M gave it a5:
Some of the minigames are alright but it seems to get boring quickly as there are so few of them. The card collecting thing is kind of neat, but several of the players don't really resemble their real life counterparts. Maybe if they do another iteration, it'll be more fun - why not take this and FIFA for DS and make just one game?

Spiros H gave it an8:
This game is pretty awesome, I like getting cards and trading them with my brother Sparticus. I never really liked playing a full game of soccer, and this is simple enough for me to get the hang of - I almost have a 5 star team! The scouting mission mini game is kind of bogus, but higher or lower and the wicked comic book match more than makes up for it

Guido B gave it a1:
I found this game in the garbage can in my high school gym and i don't think it's even worthy of that. wow what a horrible game, who came up with this idea? and especially scouting mission, how could this mini game get passed through it's so boring. I ended up giving it to my brother, but it just sits on his platter cabinet in his work room by the fish tank.

A. T gave it a1:
I bought this game off ebay for $40 dollars and I can't believe how much of a rip off it is! why oh why did you make this game ea and how could your testers stand this thing. The music sounds like beatboxing and spit sounds. It's terrible!

Billly J gave it a10:
This is perfect for the DS! I love the card collecting stuf - at last a footy game I can actually play on a handheld and not need 8 hands to play it!

Wesley J. gave it a2:
I got this as a present, and after 10 minutes of playing, the game is somewhere in my yard. I'm sure some squirrels will like it. At least I didn't waste any cash on it.
