Billboard
Taut musicianship, well-crafted songs and potent vocals make this a landmark album in an already multiplatinum career.

Hartford Courant
3 Doors Down--the band and the album--won't be breaking any records with this release, but they have produced a solid, if not spectacular, collection of a dozen tunes for their fans, who have been waiting two years for something new.

Entertainment Weekly
Much of the pop-metalers' fifth CD is overwrought. [23 May 2008, p.122]

All Music Guide
That's the ultimate irony of 3 Doors Down as they mature: try as they may to pour out their angst-ridden hearts, by riding out their success and smoothing out their music they've turned into mildly aggro background music at malls and movie theaters across the nation.

The New York Times
The lack of specificity has also been a 3 Doors Down hallmark and that blankness overwhelms their decidedly unflamboyant, often dull fourth album.

On their self-titled fourth album, one colon-blowing mid-tempo after another shows the strain.

Scott gave it an8:
I'm a hardcore 3 doors down fan and was pleased.

Tom H. gave it a6:
I split my vote between what I would give the album (5) and against expectations (7) of how I thought this rather simplistic rock group would make more music out of the same notes. And to tell you the truth, the band did a decent job, which culminates to about 4 or 5 solid singles. But let's be serious here, it's still a band in a box.

Joel W. gave it a5:
It's not bad, but its not good either. i really liked the better life and away from the sun was not as good but still very good. seventeen days was kinda boring and this cd seems kinda boring too. it seems like there using a lot of words to say very little and they are not as rocky as I'd like. I truly do not see them ever doing another album that even compares to their first two

Steve O gave it a4:
These guys have always been overratted!

Bill B. gave it a10:
Absolute Raw Energy and Emotion. 3 Doors Down has finally gone back to their roots and somehow improved upon them. Pages may be the best song they have ever recorded, and none of the other songs disappointed. This is an album that needs to be listed to LOUD in order to fully experience. It will leave your jaw hanging...

John D. gave it a6:
Not bad, but should be better next time.

Tim R. gave it an8:
Through out the years 3 Doors Down have been getting softer, but thankfully for the fans who want rock, 3 Doors Down has come back alive with this album. This may not be "the" album, but its a step in the right direction with the bands rockin sound and masterful lyrics. It has powerful rockin tracks such as Pages and Citizen Soldier, fist pumpin tracks in Train and Its Not My Time, to increadibly deep tracks such as Your Arms Feel Like Home and She Don't Want The World. This album will not please all critics, but it is definitely a worth while one if you are a 3 Doors Down fan or just an average Rock n' Roll fan. 8/10
