Spider might not make you forget "Welcome to My Nightmare," but it's nevertheless a cheerfully twisted yarn delivered with a full-on dose of guitar rockers, the requisite ballad, a soaring anthem, a bit of Beck-flavored groovery, some sly humor and nods to Cooper's glam rock past.

Alice delivers his best album in decades. [Oct 2008, p.83]

Hartford Courant
His gloomy tales are not silly, but neither are they especially threatening, despite Cooper's mildly fetishistic focus on the predatory instincts of a character who spends most of his time wallowing in self-assessments.

The Guardian
songs, like I'm Hungry, are laudably silly, others simply bland, but with a little help from Ozzy Osbourne and Slash, who adds glitzy embellishments to the heavy, anthemic Vengeance Is Mine, Cooper's back on par.

Alice still makes Marilyn Manson sound like Mickey Mouse. {Sep 2008, p.112]

All Music Guide
An easy recommendation for fan club members and/or serial killers. Everyone else has two or three better Cooper concepts to devour first.

Jalex D. gave it a10: Delightfully twisted and one of his best albums since the 70s.
Mike G. gave it a10: This album is a brilliant concept album from start to finish. It's his modern day "Welcome to My Nightmare -- but better. Check out the two songs that are not on the album -- they should have been included but are worth the extra $.99 cents. I have listened to Alice since Love it to Death and this album has it all! Listen to it many times -- it will grow on you with each and every spin. The master has done it again.
Dave K gave it a10: Excellent Album all the way!
David M. gave it a10: Nobody writes more clever lyrics than 'Ol Black Eyes himself. This CD gets better and better each time I listen to it. Do yourself a favor and pick up this CD. You'll thank me for it later....trust me.
